Pancreas of a chicken (HE): overview
The pancreas of birds is composed of three lobes, a dorsal, a ventral and a splenic lobe. It consists of an exocrine and an endocrine part. The islets of Langerhans of the endocrine pancreas are more numerous in the splenic lobe.
