Dorsal proctodeal wall of the cloaca of a chicken (HE): normal tubular glands
The proctodeum is lined by a single columnar epithelium without goblet cells. Villi are not present anymore. The crypts of Lieberkühn are barely present, except in the dorsal wall, where they form well organized branched tubular glands, as seen on the micrograph above.
