Female reproductive tract

In most bird species, only the left organs of the female tract come into development. In laying season the ovary is enormously big and full of developing follicles. The oviduct is divided into an infundibulum, magnum, isthmus, uterus or shell gland and a vagina which ends in the urodeum of the cloaca. In the oviduct, the different layers of the egg shell are formed.
