Neural lobe of the pituitary gland of a pigeon (HE)
The neural lobe of pigeons has a smooth surface. The recessus infundibularis forms a central lumen that at the base of the lobe extends in two lateral diverticula that can further divide. In chickens, the neural lobe consists of many big diverticula which causes an irregular, lobular surface.
